“I believe that everything on earth (including earth) has a divine energy and specific sequence in which it flows. This “flow” if intuitively listened to is a substantial part of my work. I closely use this ever dynamic energy pattern to forge the raw form of my sculpture and bowls, sitting and tuning in with the wood and myself until a selected form and finish can occur. Often my first finish is only a base layer in which the form is finally culminated. These works are created and shaped using a host of tools, mainly consisting of chainsaws and a lathe. A close connection with the earth’s energy and the ability to be present will allow the work to flow through me and not from me. These exchanges will intertwine together resulting in a piece that is curiously intriguing, yet rather simple in form.”
